I went to see the Van Gogh show at the Denver Art Museum--"Becoming Van Gogh"--and it was awesome. Although Van Gogh died at the young age of 37 he managed to paint 2100 works of art! He is best known for his self-portraits and sunflower series but he also painted many types of flowers--blooming Spring almond branches....

I was really taken with the intimacy, color and brushstrokes in his still life paintings. Van Gogh's use of yellow paint is often mentioned--at times as evidence of his mental issues--but his gorgeouse thick brush strokes of white, pink, blue, green (and yellow) convey the joy of Spring. Enjoy! Check out my own floral still lifes on my website: www.annieobriengonzales.com
